'The Very Hungry School' story
'The Very Hungry School' story and associated worksheet provide a useful resource for literacy and maths work, as well as offering good preparation for 'The Very Hungry School' online pupil discussion.
The story is very loosely based on the popular 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' – but with a rather different ending! Along with the associated pupil worksheet, it has been devised to:
- motivate and engage pupils;
- provide an easy way into understanding what ecological footprint means, and how we measure it.
The Worksheet offers some ready made approaches to using the story, but you will be best placed to know the needs and capabilities of your pupils. The story and images have therefore been offered in a variety of ways, to facilitate flexible use.
