Procedure:

1. Tell the pupils that they are going to develop their own campaign on energy saving and healthy lifestyles.

2. Brainstorm with the class: Do lots of people already walk or cycle? What’s happening already? What needs to be done to persuade more people to walk or cycle? Who are the target audience for this campaign – e.g. adults at the school, pupils, parents, governors, local authority?

3. Ask each group to decide on their target audience and then use the following websites to collect information to use in their campaign:

4. Invite pupils to share their work in a plenary session.

  • How might you use that information?
  • Will it help to persuade people? How? Why?
  • How could we make it more effective?
